THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice focuses on various aspects of family law. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles the post-divorce and enforcement of issues, step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills, probate and estate administration in addition to commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediation for those who want to stay clear of court proceedings and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at from their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond the realm of law as she actively served as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state area.

In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law – custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships – as well as financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with the goal of providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
